Met Cindy and Russ Thaw (from Lake Tahoe) for the first time in Bend, OR for dinner last Sunday evening. Hiked South Sister, via the Climbers Trail, on Monday. Twelve miles rt with approximately 5000' elevation gain. Highlights (aside from summiting) were crossing the snowfield of the crater through the veil of clouds simulating walking into nothingness. The cool, thin clouds moving swiftly across the ridge on descent. Oh yeah... and getting over 10K. Great day!
