I had wanted to climb Mt. Hood in June or July as my spring climb was canceled (private group). I couldn't get on a climb but did get lucky enough to join the Mazama's Eliot Glacier tour (there was a last minute cancellation). The EG is on the north side of Hood; the less traveled side and considered more scenic. The views of Mt. Rainier, Mt. Adams and Mt. St. Helens were stunning. Gary Beck led the group with David Pyszkowski assisting. We were three groups of three climbers each. Really fun group. We practiced crevasse rescue (I've been so focused on cardio, core and legs; time to focus more on upper body strength)! Had a phenomenal day ending with the traditional celebratory meal (Mexican food this time).
I had been deliberating climbing Hood from the easier south side or the more difficult Sunshine route (north side). I will be being ready for the Sunshine route next spring as I so much prefer the path less traveled.
Keep training, keep climbing and keep inspiring!
